Nottinghamshire's James Taylor scored a career-best unbeaten 242 as England Lions piled on the runs against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla.
Resuming from day two on 99 not out, the Outlaws Captain added 100 runs in two sessions before making his way to the pavilion at tea with an unbeaten 199.
After returning, he scored another 43 runs to pass not only the 200 mark, but his career-best score of 237 as the Lions declared on 605-7.
"I came into this tour knowing it was a big one for myself and the squad because we're vying for a place in the Test team," said Taylor.
"There's pressure on us because there are a couple of spots in the Test side and I'm pleased that I've been able to come here with pressure on my shoulders and score runs.
"When I'm in I like to go big because you know you're starting on nought next time around."
Taylor's 242 came from 339 balls, which included 32 boundaries, two of which were sixes.
His innings propelled the Lions to a 321-run lead after the first innings, and with Sri Lanka A ending the day at 77 without loss, the hosts will need to dig deep to avoid heavy defeat.
