Nottinghamshire bowler Stuart Broad and his England teammate Matt Prior helped to prevent a man from jumping off a Sydney bridge
They had been returning from a Barmy Army fund-raising event for the Broad Appeal, a charitable organisation established in memory of Chris Broad’s wife Miche, when they saw the man in some distress.
"Matt Prior is a best friend of mine and I'm very proud of him. It was a tough situation but so glad he was there." Stuart Broad
“We just did what anybody would do in that situation,” said Prior. “We were trying to help a bloke who was struggling and in a bad way. I look back and I’m just glad we left the bar when we did and we were there for him.”
Prior is said to have pulled the man away from the bridge after seeing him throw his wallet, mobile phone and passport into the water. The England duo then spoke to the man for an hour before police arrived.
Broad tweeted: "Matt Prior is a best friend of mine and I'm very proud of him. It was a tough situation but so glad he was there."
