An excellent performance from Melbourne Stars proved too much for the Adelaide Strikers, who reached their required total of 91 inside eight overs.
In a fixture which pitched Outlaws against Outlaws legend, the Strikers, captained by Philip Hughes and represented by Alex Hales, won the toss and elected to bat. This tasked the Stars, boasting David Hussey at number five, with restricting opening pair Hales and Michael Klinger.
Hales' innings ended early, scoring five from three deliveries before edging Jackson Bird to Glenn Maxwell. Klinger continued to score, but lost partners regularly. As he battled his way to 42, Kane Richardson was the only other Striker to reach double figures.
Klinger's was the seventh wicket to fall, caught off the impressive James Faulkner, the Stars' most enterprising bowler along with Lasith Malinga. After 20 overs, the Strikers had mustered 90 for 9.
The Stars' bowling performance, and their response with the bat befitted a team at the top of the table. Luke Wright raced to 49 off 20 deliveries, before Neser had him caught.
Fellow opener Cameron White departed next ball, before Maxwell comfortably knocked off the majority of the remaining 28 inside eight overs.
An edged six deprived Hussey, due to enter the fray at number five, the chance to bat, but ensured the Stars remained at the summit of the Big Bash League table once more, with five wins from five.
