A century from captain Virender Sehwag and an unbeaten 48 from Samit Patel proved enough for the MCC to overcome Durham in the annual county season curtain-raiser.
Chasing 224, the MCC lost their openers inside fifteen overs of the final day, but Sehwag showed his quality, his 109 coming from 97 deliveries and including nineteen boundaries pushing the contest out of reach.
Nottinghamshire’s two other representatives, Harry Gurney and Andre Adams also contributed to the MCC’s efforts. Gurney took his a wicket with his first delivery, dismissing Mark Stoneman with the seventh ball of the match.
He also added three scalps in the second innings, his 3-50 coming from 17 overs. Adams proved economical too, firstly removing centurion Stoneman and number 11 Ryan Buckley, returning figures of 2-18 from 8.5.
