While Nottinghamshire’s professional staff continue their initial fitness training at Trent Bridge this month, a number of Outlaws have been in competitive action across the world.

In New Zealand, Luke Fletcher has continued his good form for the Wellington Firebirds in their domestic T20 competition.

In an intensive three-match weekend, Fletch took two wickets as the Firebirds registered back to back victories over Central Districts and Auckland, with the weather claiming Saturday’s fixture against Northern Districts.

Brought across to represent the Firebirds by captain James Franklin, Fletcher has proved a popular figure in Wellington for his much-famed Yorkers, but lost a friend in the media after Jesse Ryder hit him for a six which dented the roof of broadcaster Ian Smith’s rental car.

Across the Tasman sea to its titular island, batsman Jake Libby has been making waves in Australia. Representing Latrobe Cricket Club on Tasmania, Libby currently tops the Club’s batting averages, having notched up 313 runs at an average of 62.60, including an imperious 115 not out against Ulverstone.

Having already registered 59 not out against the same opponents in the previous round of fixtures, Libby notched a further 78 against Mowbray this past weekend, as well as bowling ten overs for 20 runs.

In New South Wales, Ben Kitt continued to impress for St George Cricket Club. After announcing himself with a bang – taking 6-31 on his debut for the Club.

He was an integral part of the side who won the Kingsgrove Sports Twenty20 Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground, before chipping in with his first wicket in the Poidevin-Gray Shield, finishing with figures of 1-28 from 8.4 overs.
