Ajmal Shahzad has been granted early release from his Nottinghamshire contract to join Sussex.
The all-format England international arrived at Trent Bridge ahead of the 2013 season but will now sign a three-year deal with the south coast Club.
"I've had two good years at Nottinghamshire and I'm leaving for cricketing reasons with very fond memories," said Shahzad.
"My personal highlight was winning the 40-over competition at Lord's and being part of a team that was full of class-acts.
"My white ball cricket has come on a lot while I've been here but I want to be a prominent member of the squad in all formats and Sussex have given me the opportunity to do that."
Shahzad took 18 wickets in eight LV= County Championship appearances for Nottinghamshire last season but proved to be a mainstay of the Club’s white ball attack with 11 wickets in the Royal London One-Day Cup and 13 in the NatWest T20 Blast.
“Ajmal’s form with the white ball was very good but he didn’t make quite the impact that he would have wanted in our four-day side,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“This might influence the manner in which we recruit our overseas players next season with an eye on limited overs cricket and it’s highly likely that we’ll have two bowlers who have been selected to specialise at different stages of the season.
“In red ball cricket, I see this as an opportunity for us to promote from within and we’ll be looking to Andy Carter, Jake Ball, Brett Hutton and Luke Wood to make a claim for a place.”
