Nottinghamshire’s Academy suffered a losing draw against the West Indian Cavaliers this weekend, despite stern resistance from Adam Tillcock.
Tillcock scored three consecutive sixes and a four from the penultimate over to close on 49 not out, but Saqlain Mushtaq’s 6-46 saw the Academy post 208-9 from their 50 overs, in reply to the Cavaliers’ 209-7.
Paul Franks, Anuj Dal and Hassan Azad made contributions to the total, but it was Tillcock who claimed his side’s batting plaudits.
In the first innings, the Cavaliers have former Nottinghamshire man Usman Afzaal to thank for their competitive total. Largely thanks to a partnership with Akhil Patel, he made 93 before falling foul of Tillcock, catching him excellently to give Ben Kitt his third in a four-wicket haul.
