After a blistering start to the LV=County Championship season, Outlaws opener Alex Hales is full of confidence heading into Friday's NatWest T20 Blast fixture against Birmingham Bears.

Scores of 141 and 94 at Hampshire followed a career-best 236 against reigning champions Yorkshire as the England white ball international passed 500 first-class runs for the season.

And Hales is looking to take that form into the first t20 game of the year against the Bears, with a 6.30pm start under the Trent Bridge floodlights.

“My confidence has built up over the first few games having scored runs at the start of the season and hopefully I can take that in to the t20,” he said.

“The innings against Yorkshire was a massive honour from me as scoring those runs against the champions make them all the more special.

“I have been happy with my one day cricket over the years and it's nice to head into that first game having scored some runs.

“At the same time we are going in to a completely different format and I step up to open the batting. which is going to be a good challenge.

“I can’t be complacent when it comes to my form and will take nothing for granted going into the shortest format.”

And although Notts have successfully progressed to the quarter-final stages in each of the past four seasons, only to miss out on finals day, Hales is refusing to look further ahead than the competition's opening fixture.

“We are all really looking forward to getting back in-front of the massive crowd we get in at Trent Bridge every week,” he said.

“Every game we play at home has a fantastic atmosphere and over the last five or six years I reckon we have only lost a handful of games in the group stages at the ground.

“But there are plenty of decent teams in our group this year and it is up to us not to look too far ahead.

“No-one is looking at the quarter-final stages yet as there is a long way to go before that time of the season comes around.”
