A four-wicket haul for Lyndon James helped Nottinghamshire’s Seconds turn the screw on the second day of their Second Eleven Championship clash with Lancashire at Liverpool.
The all-rounder finished with figures of 4-48 from 17 overs as Notts restricted a strong Lancashire side for 316-9 giving themselves a first innings lead of 94.
James capped off a busy day by beginning the away side’s second innings, with Notts closing on 11-0.
Notts resumed the second day on 382-9 with Liam Patterson-White, who finished unbeaten on 78, and Jack Blatherwick adding quick runs to take the total to 410 all out.
Lancashire then made a good start to the second day with opener Haseeb Hameed reaching his fifty from 67 balls, but Liam Patterson-White and Lyndon James struck to remove both openers just before the lunch interval.
The Red Rose’s Second XI were able to call upon a wealth of experience as Shivrane Chanderpaul came in at number four.
However, Matt Milnes has a knack for taking big wickets and he removed the West Indian for 44.
Wicket-Keeper George Lavelle was the second batsman to get to fifty for Lancashire, but wickets fell consistently with the home side declaring when they were nine wickets down.
Jack Blatherwick and Patterson-White both took two wickets each and now they will be hoping the batsman can press home the advantage on the final day of the contest.
