It’s not been a bad 24 hours for Jake Libby.
After being bumped up the batting order to number three, the Cornishman notched his maiden T20 fifty for the Outlaws.
That alongside an unbeaten, career best 80* from Tom Moores laid the foundations for a 63-run win over Yorkshire Vikings at Trent Bridge.
But the performance was a case of hard work paying off for the batsman.
"I've worked in practice on the T20. It's something I've embraced more than in the past,” he said.
"I'll play anywhere and try to do my best for the team. I've got my areas and strengths. I'll stick with those and not really change.
"I've let myself go and tried to enjoy it. It shows you can hit it as far as anyone if you put your mind to.
"I've just tried to relax with it all. I've been working on generating more power in my shots and trying to keep my shape at the same time.”
The win over Yorkshire saw Notts climb above the White Rose back into the qualification places on Net Run Rate.
The Outlaws will be hoping to tighten their hold on the final qualifying spot when they take on Worcestershire tomorrow (August 12) but the current forecast may scupper the chance of getting a game in.
However, Libby knows Notts can’t focus on the weather.
"We've seen the forecast, but you can't focus on that,” he said.
“We've got to down there in the mindset we'll get a full game in.
"If we play like we did last night, then we'll have a good chance.”
With only two T20 group games left, Libby is hoping to make an impact in the remaining short form fixtures and when Notts return to County Championship action.
"We've hopefully got five more T20 games, so I'll try to enjoy everyone I get picked in. In the Championship, I'm looking get to 1,000 runs.
"We've been doing quite well in that competition.”
Trent Bridge saw some bumper crowds with an average of 11,377 over the course of the T20 competition and Libby appreciates the support of the Notts faithful.
“It’s certainly more nerve wracking playing in front of that many but it’s what have always wanted to do play in front of packed houses with a great atmosphere,” he said.
“The fact we get such amazing support at home really means a lot to all the players and although we haven’t always been great at home we all love the atmosphere of a Trent Bridge night.
“It’s just nice to be involved in that atmosphere rather than watching from the side”
