Nottinghamshire’s Seconds bowling unit cleaned up Glamorgan on the opening day of their Second Eleven friendly game at Sophia Gardens before an unbeaten 82* from Will Fraine swung the game firmly into the hands of the visitors.
Notts won the toss and asked the home side to bat first, with the decision paying off relatively quickly with Paul Coughlin dismissing opener Owen Morgan in the fourth over of the day.
Wickets fell at regular intervals throughout the day and Glamorgan were eventually bowled out for 185 in 54.2 overs just before tea.
Jordan Cook was the pick of the bowlers for Notts with figures of 3-15 from just 5.2 overs whilst Coughlin, who bowled ten overs as he continues his recovery from injury, Jack Blatherwick and Andrew Brewster picked up two dismissals each.
Notts made a solid start to their innings with openers Chris Gibson and Lyndon James adding 54 runs for the opening stand before Gibson fell for 31.
James advanced to his half century from 77 balls whilst Fraine hit his at a run a ball in a 104-run stand for the second wicket, before the former was dismissed for 53.
The visitors eventually ended the first day on 204-2, leading by 19 with Billy Root joining Fraine at the crease on 26*.
