England captain Eoin Morgan has remained coy about whether he will freshen up his bowling attack as England look to make it two wins out of two when they take on Pakistan tomorrow (June 3).

The home side will be looking to consolidate their impressive bowling display in the 104-run victory over South Africa at The Oval and may look to bring in Mark Wood after the Durham seamer missed out on the opening day.

However, Morgan gave little away on the side that will walk out at Trent Bridge, just two weeks after they sealed the Royal London One-Day series win over their opponents on the very same ground.

“There’s a good case for playing any of our bowlers,” he said.

“We’ll have to adapt to everything the wicket throws up but if there’s anything to exploit hopefully we’ll select the right team to do that.”

Tomorrow’s encounter will be played on the very same ground where England plundered their record breaking ODI total of 481-6 against Australia last summer, but Morgan knows his side will have to be at the top of their game to replicate such a performance against a Pakistan side who won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.

“To get anywhere near something like that we need to play unbelievably well, and it starts with the very basics of getting ourselves into an innings and each batter trying to establish a partnership,” he said.

“We prepare for the best Pakistan; only two years ago they were the best side in the world in the Champions Trophy.

“They turned us over and they turned India over, so we’ll be prepared for their A game.”

Despite setting some formidable totals on past occasions at Trent Bridge, England chased down a target of 340 when the sides met in Nottingham two weeks ago and the England captain wouldn’t mind doing the same again tomorrow.

“It’s well known that we enjoy chasing, we don’t mind setting a target either but we do enjoy chasing,” he said.

“There is a small advantage to it just psychologically knowing what you need to get and how to pace your chase.”

The England skipper was delighted with his team’s performance in the opening game against South Africa, which saw Ben Stokes’ outstanding catch garner extensive media coverage.

And Morgan believes that it set the tournament up perfectly.

“I think it gives us a sneak peek at the potential that cricket has to grow and the exposure it might have over the next five or six weeks,” he said.

“I think when your allrounder and one of the best players in the side puts in a performance like that it engages with so many different personalities, from kids all the way through to granddads.

“Everybody can experience taking a great catch, getting runs, taking wickets or having one of those days where everything goes right for you, I think that sets up the tournament really well.”
