Nottinghamshire bowler Luke Fletcher has been shortlisted for the Cinch PCA Men’s Player of the Year award.
The nomination comes after a stellar 2021 for Fletcher, during which he has taken a table-topping 63 LV= Insurance County Championship wickets at 14.04 including twice recording career-best figures – 6-24 against Essex and 7-37 against Worcestershire.
Only one player – Somerset’s Craig Overton – has taken more than 25 wickets at a better average than Fletcher. Fletcher is also in contention to win the PCA County Championship Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, leading the standings going into Tuesday’s fixtures with 329 MVP points to his name.
England Test captain and Trent Rockets batsman Joe Root joins Fletcher on the shortlist alongside David Bedingham and Simon Harmer, who was also shortlisted in both 2019 and 2020.
In the absence of an in-person event, the Cinch PCA Awards are being announced virtually throughout the final stages of the 2021 domestic season, with a number of the competition award winners having already been revealed – including Samit Patel being named as Vitality Blast Player of the Year, and Root’s fellow Rocket Nat Sciver named as Vitality Women's IT20 Player of the Summer.
Tuesday 28 September will see the finale of the Cinch PCA Awards with the four headline award winners – Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year and Men’s and Women’s Young Player of the Year – being announced live on Sky Sports during lunch on the opening day of the Bob Willis Trophy final.
