Nottinghamshire secured their first win of the Vitality Women’s County T20 season with a 30-run victory over North East Warriors before losing by seven wickets against Yorkshire on a mixed day at Moorlands Cricket Club.
After Maddie Ward (14) and Yvonne Graves (23) shared a 54-run opening stand in the first game, it was the contribution of Teresa Graves - a better than run-a-ball 28 - which hoisted Nottinghamshire to their competitive total of 104 on a slow and low pitch.
T Graves set the tone with the ball, too, conceding just three runs across her opening two overs and dismissing Layla Tipton.
The arrival of the middle overs brought with it yet more pressure in the form of economical bowling and constant wickets.
Three scalps in 11 balls, two of which saw Rhiannon Knowling-Davis bowl her North Eastern counterparts, turned the screw to leave the Warriors 25/4 after seven overs.
And Captain Lucy Higham finished the side’s impressive bowling performance with three wickets in her four overs, whilst Y Graves also claimed two.

Once again opting to bat against the White Rose, Sophie Munro and T Graves departed within the first four overs, but Y Graves (22) and Higham (25) brought much-needed stability.
Their departures within an over of each other halfway through the innings paved the way for cameo contributions from the middle order, landing the Green and Golds at an eventual total of 114.
Amelia Kite got Notts’ first wicket of the game after five overs, but the duo of Northern Diamonds’ Hollie Armitage and A Glenn guided the hosts to 67/2.
T Graves dismissed Glenn, through a catch from Munro, but Phoebe Turner took up the mantle and added 23 with Armitage before she was bowled by Higham.
The White Rose eventually reached their target with 14 balls left, a marker of Notts’ persistence defending against a strong Yorkshire outfit.
