Matthew Montgomery has been named John Pye Auctions Player of the Month for September, after scoring his maiden First-Class ton in the ongoing LV= Insurance County Championship clash with Durham.
Having replaced Ben Duckett in the side after the left-hander received an England white-ball call-up, Montgomery hit scores of 43 and 44 in an innings victory for Notts over Leicestershire.
A career-best score followed on the 22-year-old’s next outing at Trent Bridge, the right-hander amasseing 178 runs from 353 deliveries as the hosts made their seventh-highest total of all time.
Montgomery was one of four batters to reach three figures in the first innings against Durham – the first time such a feat had been achieved in Nottinghamshire colours since 1928 – as Haseeb Hameed, Lyndon James and Steven Mullaney also notched centuries in a team total of 662/5dec.
The all-rounder received his award from John Pye Auctions’ Mike Vitale.
