Trent Bridge Community Trust’s flagship dementia programme Forget Me Notts celebrated the festive period with its annual Christmas Lunch last week, complete with three course meal, raffle and performance from local choir Major Oak Chorus.
The event - sponsored by John Pye Auctions - saw over 100 attendees in Trent Bridge’s Derek Randall Suite.
It follows a year of growth for the project which is aimed at supporting individuals living with dementia and their carers.
Earlier this year, The Trent Bridge Community Trust raised in excess of £30,000 through its #Donate4Dementia campaign which ensured the continuation of the programme in its current guise.
Sessions include the provision of external advice for carers and activities for all participants at Edwalton Golf Club, Rushcliffe Leisure Centre, and Trent Bridge.
“Events like this are hugely valuable in bringing the group together and celebrating what has been a positive year for the project,” Mandy Wright, Head of Community and Development, said.
“We are seeing the number of people reliant on this programme increase, which is a testament to the work being done to provide a vital service by staff at the Trust.
“Equally, it represents an opportunity for the participants to experience a sense of normality and revel in the Christmas spirit in a supportive setting.
“That is at the core of what this particular project does; creating a safe environment in which both individuals living with dementia and their carers feel as comfortable and confident as they can in challenging circumstances.
“On behalf of the Trust, I would like to put on record our thanks to John Pye Auctions for their invaluable support of the event”.
