Luke Fletcher and Academy prospect Thomas Giles took three wickets each as Loughborough UCCE failed to reach 200 on the first day of their two-day friendly with Nottinghamshire’s Second XI.
Fletcher produced a pinpoint delivery to bowl opener Joe MacGregor in the seventh over, before removing Sheridon Gumbs and VAR Sasirekha to record miserly figures of 3/16 from 12 overs.
Right-arm quick Giles would then run through the hosts’ lower-middle-order, finishing with figures of 3/28.
There were two wickets for Toby Pettman and a scalp apiece for James Hayes and Liam Patterson-White, before Loughborugh declared their innings closed on 190/10.
In reply, openers Ben Martindale and Freddie McCann batted proactively to reach 32 without loss in the seven remaining overs of the day.
