Former Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire cricketer Ashley Metcalfe is to be the next guest of the Nottingham Cricket Lovers’ Society, on Thursday 11 January (7pm) at Trent Bridge.
Metcalfe had 14 seasons with his native Yorkshire, scoring over 16,000 runs in 378 matches across all formats.
He moved to Nottinghamshire in 1996 and spent two seasons at Trent Bridge, scoring 1,593 runs in 45 matches.

The meeting will begin with a presentation entitled ‘the cricketers in the churchyard’. Sports historian Neil Kendrick will share the story of Nottinghamshire greats Alfred Shaw and Arthur Shrewsbury, who are both buried at Gedling Church.
