The Blaze duo Nat Sciver-Brunt and Nadine de Klerk have been named in the ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year, with the former also named in the T20 Team of the Year.
It follows a year of remarkable success on the global stage for the pair, during which they both played crucial roles for their national teams.
Sciver-Brunt was named Player of the Series in the Women’s Ashes ODI series courtesy of two centuries and three wickets, contributing to a total haul of three hundreds in her six games played across the calendar year.
In the shorter format, the all-rounder made 364 runs at 45.50 and a strike rate close to 136, only dismissed twice under 10 across the year in the T20I format.
She made three half-centuries at the T20 World Cup in South Africa, including 50 (42) against India in Gqeberha and 81* (40) against Pakistan in Cape Town.
Meanwhile de Klerk, who recently committed to the Blaze for 2024 subject to international commitments, stood out as South Africa’s star bowler, filling the hole left by Shabnim Ismail’s retirement.
De Klerk took 16 wickets in nine ODIs in the year, averaging 16.68 with the ball.
The South African’s most impressive performance came against Pakistan in Karachi, in which she claimed four wickets, albeit she claimed three or more wickets in four games.
She also played a more than handy role with the bat, making 181 runs at an average of 45.25 with two fifties. She won the Player of the Series in Pakistan for her significant all-round contributions as South Africa won the series 2-1.
