Lister's 62 T20 appearances have yielded 68 wickets at 24.08, with his career-best returns coming a matter of months ago - 4/26 for Auckland Aces against Wellington in New Zealand's Super Smash.

Lister would go on to pick up the 2024 Smash title with the Aces, capping a productive 12-month period in which he attracted the attention of the New Zealand selectors.

On the global stage, Lister has appeared 12 times in the T20 colours of his country, picking up his first IT20 wicket in April 2023 and being a key part of the Blackcaps' recent series against Pakistan.

Lister's three ODI caps, meanwhile, include two against England last September. His best returns in the format came at the Oval, as he removed Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone and Chris Woakes on the way to recording figures of 3/69 from ten overs.

His compatriot Devon Conway - a man with extensive experience in the white-ball arena - feels Lister has much to offer.

"Ben is this very skilful bowler," Conway said. "You know he's this left-arm seamer who does different tricks with the ball, which is so exciting to see. He's put in a lot of performances for a long period of time so it's great to have him in the group."

Blackcaps selector Gavin Larsen is of a similar mindset.

"Ben bowls with some pace and he swings the ball. We're excited about what that brings to our mix," he said after elevating Lister to the senior New Zealand squad.

"He has made an exciting impact for Auckland early in his career in red and white ball cricket. Since his debut in late 2017, he is the Aces' leading wicket taker in T20 and List A cricket.

"His ability to swing the ball considerably as a left-armer is particularly exciting."
