Jacob Hughes’ restrictive bowling return was in vain as Nottinghamshire Under-18s fell to defeat against Yorkshire in a 50-over friendly in Leeds.
Hughes picked up 2/41 from his ten overs, claiming the wickets of Tom Fraine and home skipper Will Bennison, but wicketkeeper Joe Thompson’s 122 saw the White Rose post 334-7.
There were also wickets for Akand Gangotra, Dan Cole, and Josh Beer, but half-centuries from Bennison and Peter Greenfield helped Yorkshire to an imposing total.
Oscar Butcher led the charge in reply, striking 51 off just 37 balls in a knock that included nine fours, while Saad Ali made 45.
However, regular wickets, six of which were evenly shared by Bennison and Edward Burch, meant the young Green and Golds ended up dismissed in the 42nd over for 206.
