Born in Watnall Greasley on 1 November 1865, Albert Longdon was a right-hand bat and right-arm medium pace bowler. He played cricket for Eastwood Colliery CC and in 1894 represented Notts Castle CC in a game versus the MCC at Lord’s. His career with Barber, Walker & Co limited his cricket. He was under-manager at High Peak Colliery near Moorgreen and then transferred to the same post at Bentley near Doncaster. From 1921 to 1937 he was manager of the Bentley Colliery; in November 1931 there was a gas explosion at the pit which killed 45 people.
Longdon died aged 71 on 13 May 1937 at Dan Wood House in Bentley.
