Charles Morris first appeared in club cricket around Nottingham in 1899, he was for some years a regular player with Nottingham Amateurs CC and often with Radcliffe CC. From 1902 he assisted Notts Club and Ground in some games and after appearing in the August Bank Holiday Amateurs v Professionals match at Trent Bridge in 1902, was selected to play for Notts v Lancashire at Old Trafford on 21 and 22 August, scoring 2 in a contest that Notts won by an innings and 66 runs. In the Amateurs v Professionals match of 1903 he had innings of 59 and 40. He was given an extended trial with the County at the start of 1904, but failed to do much – his last first-class game was against Sussex at Trent Bridge in June 1904 where he achieved his top score of 24 not out. In five First-Class games he scored 63 runs @9.00. He made three appearances for Notts Seconds in Minor Counties Championship in 1909.
Born in Nottingham on 26 August 1880, Charles Richard Morris was educated at Oakham School and was a right-hand bat and a right-arm bowler. He resided in Radcliffe on Trent before emigrating to South Africa in 1920, returning to England in 1936. A surveyor by profession, he died in New End Hospital, Hampstead, Middlesex on 10 August 1947 aged 66 years.
