Born in Nottingham on 16 September 1992, George Peter William Bacon attended the Djanogly City Academy and Bilborough College; he is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium pacer. He played for Southwell CC in 2009 but since 2010 has represented Kimberley Institute CC in the Notts Premier League and is the current club captain. In 144 league matches for the club he has scored 3,383 runs @31.32 and taken 178 wickets @24.21.
Bacon represented Notts at Under-14, Under-15 and Under-17 levels and played for Bedfordshire in the Minor Counties between 2010 and 2015 (7 Championship and 6 Trophy games). He joined the Notts Academy in 2011 and became a regular in the Academy Team, playing 53 Notts Premier Games taking 70 wickets @23.14. In addition, he appeared regularly for Notts Seconds between 2011 and 2013 with best bowling figures of 5-65 v Essex Seconds at Garon Park, Southend in 2012.
In 2013 he was selected for the Notts first team versus the touring Bangladesh “A” team on 14 August in a fixture which was granted List A status. He opened the bowling with Luke Fletcher and bowled 10-2-62-2 and did not bat. This was his only game for the Notts first team and he left the Academy at the end of the season. He played for Durham and Leicester Seconds on trial in 2014.
