Greg Blewett, born in Adelaide on 29 October 1971 and the son of Bob Blewett, the South Australian cricketer of the 1970s, was Nottinghamshire's overseas player for the 2001 season. In a successful campaign, scoring almost 1300 runs, with his best performance 137no, he also took 24 catches in the 16 First-Class matches in which he played.
A stylish right hand opening batsman, he first came to public attention as captain of the South Australian Under-19 side that won the Barclays Bank title at Sydney. He hit the highest score of 85 in the final. He was then picked for the Australian Under-19 Team to tour England in the summer of 1991.
He found English conditions much to his liking, scoring 846 runs, averaging 60.43, including 164 in the second ‘Test’. His First-Class debut occurred on his return home and during the 1991/92 season he played in all ten Sheffield Shield games for South Australia.
He hit 571 runs, averaging 35.68. His club side was Prospect, for whom he averaged 70.42. In 1994/95 came his Australian Test debut v England at Adelaide. Later that year he toured the West Indies with the Australian Test side.

In 1999 he retuned to England as Yorkshire’s overseas player, hitting 655 runs with an average of 31.19. His form during the 1999/00 season, when, in addition to playing in Australia, he toured Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, was not up to his usual standard - he struggled against top-class spin bowling in particular.
Since retiring from professional cricket, Blewett has pursued a commentating career and moved into coaching, acting as fielding consultant of Australia for the one-day tri-series in Zimbabwe and for their matches against Pakistan in the UAE in 2014.
