Gregory Wentworth Mike was born on 14 July 1966 in Nottingham and destined to be a cricketer - his father, Clinton Mike was an important figure on the county club circuits and the driving force behind many emerging young players, not least his own son.
Greg was a promising all-rounder when he made his Nottinghamshire First-Class debut in 1989 and in his seven-year stint with Notts he scored 1019 First-Class runs with a top score of 66no at an average of 18.87 and took 87 wickets at 38.86, best return 5-44 v Yorkshire. He also played 69 List-A matches in which he scored 409 runs at 12.02 and took 74 wickets at an average of 34.61 but did not quite fulfill his early promise and left the club in 1996.
His son Ben (Benjamin Wentworth Munro) Mike, made his debut in List-A and First-Class cricket for Leicestershire in 2018 and had a couple of games in 2019 on loan to Warwickshire; he is also an all rounder who has already passed his father's top score, making 72 against Hampshire.
