Born in Nottingham on 13 November 1863, Henry Robinson was described as fair bowler and good fieldsman. He never appeared for Notts Colts and is described as “Robinson of Basford Park” in his sole First-Class appearance for Notts v MCC at Lord’s on 23 and 24 May 1889, when he failed to score in either of his innings and did not bowl. He had appeared for Notts Castle versus the MCC at Lord’s the previous August, doing only slightly better - scoring 0 and 6. The only other details of his cricketing career that could be obtained were that he scored 193 for Thursday United v Basford Park on 14 June 1888. His only known professional engagement was at Malvern College in either 1887 or 1888.
Robinson worked as an iron turner and a mechanic at a colliery; he lived in and around Nottingham and spent the last 20 years of his life in Bulwell. He died on 24 September 1938.
