Hiram Slack played in one First-Class match for Nottingham Old Club in each of 1831 and 1832, both against Sheffield on the Hyde Park ground there. He scored 47 runs with a highest score of 23 and took no wickets, featuring in one good stand of 49 with Tom Heath in the second fixture.
Slack played in a few club matches between 1827 and 1832 and is perhaps the player featured in a match in Mansfield in 1836. His cricketing life appears to have been quite brief as no further records have been found.
He was born in Hucknall Torkard in 1808, christened there on 28 August, and died in Mickleover, Derbyshire, on 8 July 1853. It is probable that he is the uncle of Hiram Slack junior, who was given a trial for the County in 1866.
