Although his family have long associations with cricket in Worcestershire – his father, Gavin, played 100 First-Class games for the county – Jack Haynes decided at the end of the 2023 season to make the journey across the Midlands to join Nottinghamshire.

His record at Worcester was enough to gain him an immediate place in the Notts top order. Haynes made 77 on debut against Essex and although that was his highest score of the First-Class campaign, he was an ever-present in the side and featured in a number of important partnerships.

In his first season at the club, he made seven fifties in 19 County Championship innings – only Joe Clarke reached the milestone more often – with a further four in white ball cricket.

He is unusual in that his highest First XI innings – at the time of his move – came in List-A cricket, 153 made against Essex in 2021.  His best First-Class score is 134no made v Durham in 2023.

Jack Haynes is a right-handed batter and though his profile offers ‘right arm off-breaks’ as a bowling option, there is no record of him bowling in senior cricket.

He was born on 30 January 2001 in Worcester and attended Malvern College. As well as representing his home county throughout age group cricket, Haynes also had one match for Herefordshire, against Berkshire in 2019.

Haynes is one of several players in the 2024 First Team squad to have played Under-19s internationals, in a 50-over tri-series in the Caribbean, and in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
