John Fillingham Bishop made three First-Class appearances for Nottinghamshire between 1923 and 1925 but failed to make any great impact. He took four catches at slip but did not bowl and scored a grand total of 21 runs, 15no against Essex being his highest innings. He scored two centuries, top score 160no, in 21 games for the Second Eleven - against Lancashire at Trent Bridge in 1924 and v Lincolnshire at Mansfield in 1925.

A loyal servant to Radcliffe-on-Trent who he captained for 25 years, Bishop tended his club’s ground between 1939 and 1945 and was a keen player of golf and tennis.  He also played regularly for Notts Rugby Football Club, making 139 appearances, scoring 39 tries.

He was born on 21 November 1891 in Radcliffe and died in Hove, Sussex, on 14 December 1963
