John Foxcraft, a solicitor practising in Stoney St, Nottingham, earned his place in three county games - one in 1837 and two in 1840 - as much for his part in supporting the team’s finances (the same could be said for his contemporary George Galloway) as for his cricketing abilities - a top score of 12no in 7 innings and did not bowl; he also played once for the Gentlemen of Nottinghamshire.
Born in Nottingham in 1806, John Foxcraft was a member of the Committee that ran the Forest Ground. He died in Bramcote in 1853.
