KYLE VERREYNNE
Nottinghamshire secured the services of South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Kyle Verreynne for three of their final four County Championship fixtures. His arrival heralded an uplift in performances and results, aided by a half-century and an innings of 148no during his short stay.
Fresh from South Africa’s victorious two-match Test series in the West Indies - in which he scored a half-century in the Proteas’ 40-run win in Providence - the 27-year-old played in the games versus Surrey, Essex and Warwickshire.
Verreynne, who has 18 Test caps and a Test hundred for his country, had amassed nine centuries and 32 fifties from 124 First-Class innings, at an average of 48.91.
His career-best score of 216no came in March 2021 for Cobras, with his Test high score of 136no coming a year later against New Zealand to seal a comprehensive victory in Christchurch.
Kyle Verreynne was born 12 May 1997 in Pretoria, South Africa; the right-hand wicketkeeper batter had played his cricket wholly in his home country until his 2024 contract with Nottinghamshire.
The County used four different keepers during the Championship campaign of 2024 - Joe Clarke, Tom Moores and Dane Schadendorf as well as Veryenne. The highlight of his brief stay with Notts was 148no made against Warwickshire in a high-scoring draw that ensured continued Division One status.
