A middle order right-hand batsman, Anthony Robin Bilbie joined the Notts playing staff in 1959 and was released after the 1963 season. Unable to secure a regular place in the First Eleven, he appeared in only 14 First-Class matches for the county over those four seasons. He also played in the Second XI Competition during his time on the staff, his best match being against Warwickshire on the RHP Ground at Newark in 1962, when he scored 100 and 54, being undefeated in both innings. The main feature of his batting was his ability to drive off the front foot and he was also an excellent slip fielder, specialising at first slip. He also played for Notts in the Minor Counties Competition in 1959 and 1960.
Born in Nottingham on 29 April 1942, he was educated at Mundella Grammar School, where he was in the XI for three years; he played club cricket for Lenton United from 1957-61, then Notts Forest and Worksop in the Bassetlaw League.
For three seasons he played as an amateur for Nottingham Forest FC, usually as a centre forward, and in 1963 captained the Midland Amateur Alliance League Representative XI.
By profession Robin Bilbie was an accountant, for many years with the Courtaulds Group.
He died in York on 29 August 2015, having moved there to be close to his family.
