On 7 May 1921, Thomas Collins joined a select band of cricketers to have claimed a wicket with the first ball of their first class career. On debut for Nottinghamshire against Leicestershire at Trent Bridge, he bowled England batsman John King for 18. That was his only wicket in that innings and he took one more in Leicestershire's second innings. Collins played one more game for Nottinghamshire, versus Surrey a week later, taking another wicket and was not seen in the First-Class game for another 14 seasons
He re-appeared on the county scene for Hampshire in 1935, playing another two matches, against Derbyshire and Yorkshire, in July of that summer. He took one more wicket to finish with four First-Class wickets at 20.00, to go with 32 runs at 5.33 with a top score of 13. The only record of him in the intervening years is two games for Durham in 1924 and 1925.
Thomas Collins was born on 4 March 1895 in Nottingham and died on 19 May 1964 in Edwalton.
