Thomas Foster was a regular player for his home village of Bingham (he was born there in 1792) who was twice selected for the Nottingham Old Club. Both games were against Sheffield on The Forest; in 1827 he scored nought and a year later did only slighly better, making 4 and 2 - prompting the suggestion from the Nottingham Review that the Old Club, "might obtain several efficient players from the minor clubs in the town without taking the heroes of the county ones, who in these matches seldom do much".
Foster's only score of note was 43, made for Bingham versus Grantham in 1826. He was not related to the Foster family of Radcliffe-on-Trent nor, as far as can be established, to William Foster who played one First-Class game for Notts in 1889.
No further particulars of Thomas Foster could be obtained.
