A Yorkshireman who had to move South – though not that far – to play his cricket, Vikram Atri was born in Hull on 9 March 1983 and is a right-hand bat who occasionally bowls right-arm off breaks.
Vikram Atri attended Fernwood School in Wollaton. He has played in the Premier Leagues in both Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire from 2000 onwards; his first representative game was in August 2001 when he scored 21 and 1 for the Development of Excellence Midlands XI v the West Indies Under-19 – a match in which one Samit Patel did rather less well, scoring just a single in each innings.
Atri made his List-A debut in the same season, playing for the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board v Bedfordshire in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy in which he opened the batting with Jimmy Hindson but was out for a duck. His First-Class career with Notts began with a match against West Indies A in July 2002 when he was out agonisingly two short of a maiden hundred, that 98 remained his highest First-Class score. His two other matches for Notts were in the 2003 County Championship against Middlesex and Kent.
Thereafter, Atri played for Loughborough UCCE, making nine First-Class appearances for them. He was part of the British Universities Cricket Touring Party to South Africa in 2004 and represented Loughborough University UCCE from 2001 - 2005
In his combined total of 12 First-Class matches, he scored 548 runs at 28.48, with 4 half centuries; in the field he took eight catches. He bowled just one over for Loughborough that went for six runs.
In 2004, Atri made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Lincolnshire against Norfolk and thus far has represented Lincolnshire in 28 Minor Counties Championship matches. He has also played in the MCCA Knockout Trophy, making his debut in that competition for Lincolnshire against Staffordshire in 2006 with 28 appearances in that competition as well.
Vikram Atri currently works as an IT Application Development Manager.
