Wayne Anthony Dessaur was a right handed batsman who played for Nottinghamshire in the early 1990s.

Born in Nottingham on 4 February 1971, Dessaur attended Loughborough Grammar School and after useful performances for the Colts and the County Seconds, he joined the Notts staff in 1991.  His outings were restricted to the 2nd XI in 1991 but he showed his promise with a score of 208 not out against Gloucestershire Seconds in July of that year.

Dessaur made his first team debut in a Sunday League match against Somerset at Bath in June 1992 and his First-Class debut against Northamptonshire later that month.  He kept his place in the side for the subsequent fixture against Cambridge University, when he added an impressive 234 for the first wicket with debutant Jonathan Wileman.  His score of 148 in that match would prove to be the highest of his professional career.

In 1993, Dessaur appeared in seven First-Class matches and scored a second hundred.  This innings of 104 against Derbyshire saw him combine with Paul Pollard to rack up 291 for the first wicket.  When the pair added 150 in the second innings, this was only the eighth time in Nottinghamshire history that a century opening stand had been scored in both innings of a County Championship match.

Despite five further appearances in 1994, Dessaur was unable to establish himself in the County First XI and his contract was not renewed for 1995.  His 14 First-Class appearances over three seasons saw him amass 643 runs for Nottinghamshire at an average of just over 30.

Dessaur joined Derbyshire for the 1995 season, playing in eight First-Class and four List-A fixtures, but left the County before the end of the season.

After cricket, Wayne Dessaur studied at Nottingham University where he gained a degree in physiotherapy.  He emigrated to Australia and established his own physiotherapy practice in Adelaide, treating sports injuries, post-operative rehabilitation patients and general musculoskeletal injuries.
