FORGET ME NOTTS

Free sport and social sessions for people living with dementia and their carers.

Forget Me Notts is Trent Bridge Community Trust’s Dementia-based project. These weekly sessions provide the opportunity for social and sporting activities for those living with dementia and their carers, working to reduce social isolation, encourage physical activity and provide support to those directly and indirectly affected by dementia.

A typical session involves a mixture of social activities like bingo, a weekly quiz and chat, sporting activities including golf, indoor bowls, indoor curling, dance based exercise, and chair exercise, as well as the opportunity to connect with individuals in a similar situation and professionals in the field of dementia.

The project enables a peer support network for attendees, facilitated by member WhatsApp groups and plenty opportunity for conversation over a cup of tea and a biscuit (or two). Sessions also combine short periods of carer respite whilst providing access to expert advice through our carers group.

We have upwards of 110 members to date attending various sessions over each month. Watch a video with two service users below to hear some of their thoughts.

The programme has previously won the Health and Wellbeing Award at the Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards and has been named Community Group of the Year by Active Notts.

It is supported by our Trent Bridge team of ‘Dementia Friends Aware’ staff and volunteers

With various locations across Rushcliffe - including the Boundary’s Edge Suite with the stunning backdrop of Trent Bridge Ground (lunch provided), Rushcliffe Arena and Edwalton Golf club - there are numerous ways to get involved. See the below leaflet for our Venue and Date calendar.
