The Trent Bridge Community Trust has acclaimed the popularity of its Forget Me Notts fixture, after offering complimentary tickets to the second day of Nottinghamshire's Specsavers County Championship clash with Warwickshire.

Over 70 tickets were issued for the day, with trained Dementia Friends hosting designated rooms and seating areas specifically for those living with the condition along with their carers.

The event was the latest addition to the Trust’s roster of support for those with a dementia diagnosis.

Monthly Forget Me Notts activity sessions at Trent Bridge allow those living with dementia to remain mentally and socially active, while sports sessions held in conjunction with a number of local clubs provide a rare opportunity for those with the condition to enjoy exercise in a supportive environment.

“It was great to see people from our surrounding communities who are living with dementia being able to access Trent Bridge and be comfortable in their surroundings,” said Mark Clifford, the Trent Bridge Community Trust’s Community Projects Manager.

“For the majority who attended, cricket has been a sport they’ve been involved with or enjoyed earlier in their lives – and opportunities to reminisce are so central to their happiness.

“For attendees – and for their carers – the opportunity to spend a day out away from the usual care setting, was valuable, enjoyable and greatly appreciated across the board.

“It’s certainly an event we’ll be looking to repeat next season.”
