Nottinghamshire First-Class Debut: 29 August 2018 v Surrey (The Oval)
One of the most consistent opening batters in the county game, Ben Slater has been a revelation for Notts since signing from near-neighbours Derbyshire in 2018.
A century on his home debut against Yorkshire endeared him to the Trent Bridge faithful, and the Chesterfield-born left-hander has amassed nearly 4,500 first-class runs for the county.
In 2024, he finished inside the top ten run-scorers in Division One with 949 at an average over 45.
Slater has made the most of his appearances in the domestic one-day cup competition, too, to maintain a phenomenal average north of 50. His performances in in 2024 saw him win the One Day Cup Player of the Year trophy.
The reward for many hours working in the nets came during the Division Two campaign in 2022 when Slater showed that there may be another string to his bow, as his off-spin was given a number of airings and picked up three wickets.
