Nottinghamshire had a day to remember at Visit Worcestershire New Road as they bowled out Worcestershire for 80 in the morning session on the second day of their Vitality County Championship clash, before finishing 234/3 at stumps, leading by 154 runs.
Captain Haseeb Hameed scored a brilliant hundred for the Green and Golds while Joe Clarke finished 73 not out as the pair put on 147 runs for the third wicket.
Earlier in the day, Luke Fletcher and Dillon Pennington took three wickets apiece as the Nottinghamshire attack took full advantage of the bowler-friendly conditions after Hameed won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Before play commenced, with the fixture being the hosts' first at New Road since the tragic passing of young bowler Josh Baker, the two sides stood shoulder-to-shoulder for a warm minute's applause in his memory.
Fletcher took the first wicket of the day when he removed Jake Libby for two, thanks to a brilliant catch from Calvin Harrison diving low to his left at second slip.
A second breakthrough soon followed as Pennington knocked back Ed Pollock’s middle stump in the sixth over to leave the hosts clambering at 3/2.
Fletcher and Harrison came together again to dismiss Gareth Roderick before Rob Jones edged behind to Tom Moores to give Fletcher his third wicket of the day.
Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and 29/4 quickly became 34/5 as Lyndon James trapped Pears captain Brett D’Oliveira lbw before Moores took a sublime full-length grab down the legside to see the back of Waite for 16 and give James his second scalp.
Adam Hose was the seventh batter out for Worcestershire with the score on 61, caught and bowled by Pennington in the 24th over.
Dane Paterson then got in on the act, taking two wickets in consecutive overs as he firstly accounted for Nathan Smith lbw for one, and then Joe Leach for three who found Ben Slater at point.
Lunch was delayed as Nottinghamshire pursued the final Worcestershire wicket and Pennington duly found it with the first ball of the 32nd over as Adam Finch became the last man out for nine, caught by Moores for his third catch of the day.
Nottinghamshire’s openers piled the pressure on Worcestershire with the bat after the break with Hameed and Slater’s opening stand putting on 77.
Slater hit seven fours during his tidy 41 before being caught, while Young was bowled for two.
Joe Clarke was the beneficiary of being dropped on nought by Roderick behind the stumps - he made his former county pay as he batted beautifully on the way to his fifth half-century of the campaign.
Hameed was calm and composed throughout his stay at the crease, scoring nine fours on the way to his second ton of the season before being given out lbw, a pivotal stand to widen the first-innings margin.
Nightwatchman Fletcher successfully guided Nottinghamshire through the remaining three overs of the day alongside Clarke to reach the close of play in a commanding position, posting 234/3.
