Kevin O’Brien intends to apply the lessons he’s learned from the ICC World Twenty20 when he returns to action with Notts in the Twenty20 Cup next week.

The Irish all-rounder was ever-present for his country in their run to the Super 8’s, hitting the winning runs in their group match against Bangladesh, and feels he can be a better player from his experiences.

He said: “Playing in the ICC World Twenty20 was tremendous and hopefully it will stand us in good stead for the qualifying tournament for next year’s competition in the Caribbean.

“We’ve got to go to Dubai in November and ensure we qualify because we all want to be playing in front of such huge crowds.

“Personally, from a batting point of view, I’ve begun to realise that you actually have more time than you think.

“I got out a couple of times playing the big shots too soon. There are 20 overs to face and you do still have a bit of time to play yourself in and get used to the pitch before going on the attack.”

O’Brien took two wickets in his debut appearance for Notts in the thrilling last ball defeat by Durham Dynamos in the Twenty20 Cup at Trent Bridge last month.

And his first aim is to force his way back into the Outlaws line-up ahead of their four home matches in the competition.

Notts play Yorkshire Carnegie on Monday June 22, Leicestershire Foxes on Wednesday June 24, Derbyshire Phantoms on Friday June 26 and Lancashire Lightning on Sunday June 28.

Advance tickets are available online here and cost £12 for adults and £7 for juniors and senior citizens, while a family of two adults and two children can get in for just £31.

Advance tickets must be purchased by 4pm the day before each match takes place, while seats for the games on Monday and Sunday must be bought by 1pm the Saturday before.

Alternatively you can buy a special week pass directly from the Trent Bridge Ticket Office on 0870 168 8888 before 1pm on Saturday June 20, which entitles you to entry for all four games.

The week passes cannot be bought online and cost £40 for adults, £24 for juniors and senior citizens and £106 for a family of two adults and two children.
