Captain Chris Read intends to use the ICC World Twenty20 for inspiration when Notts Outlaws resume their Twenty20 Cup campaign.

The Outlaws only one won out of the first six fixtures to leave them bottom of the North Division, but Read has refused to give up on a quarter-final spot.

“We have to win all four remaining games and hope results go our way around the group,” he said.

“We were disappointed with the way we performed, although I think it’s important to stay positive and appreciate that the first couple of defeats were down to fine margins.

“The squad sat down and had a chat to reflect on things and although there’s not a lot of time to work on our skills, we must look to develop our game in certain areas.

“With the ICC World Twenty20 going on at the moment, I’ve been watching the matches closely and I think there’s room for me to show more innovation in my captaincy.

“Some of the captains have used their bowlers more cleverly and that means the batsmen can’t get settled. They’ve been switching bowlers around after one over or using different bowlers at different times and those are things I will try and take on board.”
