Nottinghamshire v Yorkshire - Second Eleven Championship
Day 2 of 3
Yorkshire 182 & 99-2
Notts 238
With further rain forecast, a draw looks inevitable in Nottinghamshire’s Second Eleven Championship game against Yorkshire.
This match would seem likely to be a close affair between two evenly matched teams, however rain intervened shortly after lunch on the second day and no further play was possible
In the morning session resuming on 199-8, Notts added a further 39 runs, mainly through wicket keeper Scott Stanworth who was not out 28 and played some nice shots which produced four boundary fours and a six. Darrin Patterson made 15 and Charlie Shreck edged to Brophy behind the wicket for no score
Joe Root and Garry Balance gave Yorkshire a solid start to their second innings with a stand of 80 before Andy Carter had Balance caught by Mullaney for 37 and then for the second day running Mullaney took a wicket with the final ball before lunch having Joe Root leg before for 41.
Lunch was taken at 86-2. The restart was delayed by 15 mins but at 2.27pm the rain became persistent and drove the players from the field.
