Nottinghamshire are top of Division One of the LV= County Championship after beating Kent by an innings and 32 runs.
Andre Adams, Luke Fletcher and Samit Patel all finished with three wicket hauls in the second innings as Notts capitalised on Kent's batting woes to make a perfect start to their title chase.
The crucial wicket of Joe Denly, batting at number seven following James Tredwell's ill-fated stint as Kent's nightwatchman on day two, gave Notts sight of the finish line and Patel removed Amjad to finish the match.
Adams' second innings spells were expensive but inscisive as he built on his first innings haul with 4-63 from 18 overs whilst Fletcher and Patel capitalised on Kent's frustration.
Chris Read stumped Sam Northeast with the final ball of the morning session and Adams had Denly lbw with the first ball of the afternoon session.
Notts expect to be able to call on Darren Pattinson for next week's game against Somerset but unless Sidebottom is prevented from playing by the England management, Paul Franks's form with the bat and the bowling prowess of Adams and Fletcher might make team changes difficult to justify.
