Luke Fletcher and Neil Edwards hope to force their way into the Notts Outlaws team to face Hampshire Royals at the Rose Bowl on Sunday having been included in Mick Newell’s 13-man squad.
Newell could keep faith the eleven that faced Leicestershire Foxes at Grace Road but will consider introducing one or both of the additional names as he looks to bounce back from a comprehensive defeat.
“I think it’s only fair that we give people a fair chance to prove their abilities in one day cricket so the team will be fairly settled,” said Newell.
“We’ve put the Leicestershire defeat behind us now and we’re looking forward to getting to the Rose Bowl and searching for a win. I don’t think the teams that qualify from the group stage will lose any more than three matches so it’s important that we find form quickly and get positive results.”
Hashim Amla and Alex Hales seem assured of retaining their places at the top of the order following their 96-run opening stand at Grace Road.
“Alex did well last week and I’m sure he’ll get a chance in four day cricket when Hashim leaves us,” said Newell.
“There’s no doubting his abilities in one day cricket because he strikes the ball well and now he needs to make match winning contributions.”
Hampshire also suffered defeat in the Clydesdale Bank 40 last weekend following a batting collapse against Durham at the Riverside.
