Second Eleven Championship
Glamorgan 268 & 229 Notts 373 & 128-2
Notts (24 pts) beat Glamorgan (7 pts) by 8 wickets
Matthew Wood reached his fifty with a match-winning four as Nottinghamshire Second Eleven claimed a Championship victory over Glamorgan.
Set 125 to win Notts were in trouble early on with Alex Hales (4) slicing a drive to point and Akhil Patel (10) caught at bat pad. Matt Wood and Steven Mullaney played cautiously against the pace of Will Owen and the slow left arm of James but the introduction of Imran Hassan relieved the pressure with 13 coming from his first over. Three overs later, the match was all over. Mullaney finished on 53 not out.
Notts had claimed early wickets on the third morning as Charlie Shreck and Graeme White dismissed Roberts and Davies. When Norman followed well caught by Matthew Wood at slip on 159 it seemed that the game could well end before lunch.
Nick Shea and Will Owen had other ideas and took to attacking the Notts bowlers adding 42 in 30 minutes before Shea (44) was bowled by Mullaney in his first over of the day. Mullaney had replaced Graeme White in the attack who again bowled a long spell, and, by claiming the last wicket, completed a five wicket haul taking 5-100 and finishing with 9-163 in the match. Owen was the last man out for 35. Charlie Shreck finished with 3-46.
