Nottinghamshire’s Ashes-winning duo Grame Swann and Stuart Broad and promising age group cricketer Anuj Dal are amongst the nominees for awards at the Nottinghamshire sports review this evening.

Broad and Swann are amongst the front-runners for the Notts Sportsperson of the Year award along with Nottinghamshire Academy Graduate and Women’s World Cup winner Jenny Gunn. Boxer Carl Froch and the current holder of the award, Rebecca Adlington, are also nominated.

Winners will be announced at the presentation ceremony at the University of Nottingham's East Midlands Conference Centre.

Anuj Dal is amongst the finalists from nearly 40 nominees for junior sportsperson of the year having captained Nottinghamshire under 13s.

“Anuj has got good tactical awareness for a young player and he showed that he’s a natural leader by captaining our under 13s last season,” said Nottinghamshire’s Player Pathway Co-Ordinator Eddie Burke.

“He’s part of our Emerging Players Programme which tracks the most talented young players in Nottinghamshire and he’s working hard on all areas of his game.”

Eight awards will be presented including coach of the year, volunteer of the year and team of the year.

"These awards highlight our elite sports performers, the stars of the future and our reputation as a sporting county,” said Councillor John Cottee.

"They also acknowledge the countless individuals including coaches, administrators and other people behind the scenes who put so much hard work into supporting sport across the county and without whom we couldn't achieve the successes we do.

"Our Shining Stars and Rising Stars grants, launched this week, will help our top athletes to Olympic success and produce the next generation of stars. Our National Water Sports Centre offers world-class facilities for water sports."
