Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club is seeking volunteers to assist with plans for an attempt to set a new world record for the amount of people playing cricket in the same place at the same time.

In partnership with npower, sponsors of English Test Cricket, the Club will attempt to set a record by inviting 2,010 Nottinghamshire school children to play cricket at Nottingham Racecourse on Wednesday 30th June.

The event will help to raise funds for the Trent Bridge Community Sports Trust and Cerebral Palsy Sport with all participants expected to raise a minimum of £5 in sponsorship.

“We’re in the planning phase at the moment and our major focus is to recruit volunteers to act as stewards and scorers on the day,” said Nottinghamshire’s Cricket Development Officer Martyn Dobson.

“Volunteers will be crucial to our success and I’d ask anyone who is interested in playing their part to make a commitment to the project.”

The club are holding a recruitment open evening  on Tuesday 2nd March in the Pavilion at Trent Bridge at 7pm. Anybody interested in attending should call Martyn on 0115 982 3000 or email martyn.dobson@nottsccc.co.uk.
