Luke Fletcher will replace Dirk Nannes in the Notts Outlaws team to face Yorkshire Carnegie at Trent Bridge this evening (play starts 6.10pm).
The availability of Ryan Sidebottom and good form of Darren Pattinson has kept Fletcher out of the side but Director of Cricket Mick Newell has elected to rest Nannes ahead of his team’s quarter-final on Monday 26th July.
“Fletch was in our thoughts before the competition started but he’s missed out through no fault of his own because other players have played particularly well,” said Newell.
“Ryan and Darren were particularly keen to play tonight and Dirk will benefit from sitting this one out to team selection was quite straight forward.
“We’ve had a very settled side and we already know our line-up for the quarter-final but we have to take momentum into that game and that means beating Yorkshire at Trent Bridge today.”
Yorkshire can’t qualify for the knockout stages but have good pedigree having already beaten Notts at Headingley. South African star Herschelle Gibbs will pose a clear threat but Newell hopes his batsmen can dominate the game.
“We haven’t batted well in the last three matches and that needs to be addressed with a much stronger performance against Yorkshire,” said Newell.
“A win will boost confidence and morale ahead of our home quarter-final which makes this game particularly important.”
A dry forecast for Nottingham this evening should see the match begin on schedule at 6.10pm.
